How often should you book a fade?

A sharp fade starts to soften after about ten days. Here is how to plan your chair time around the way your hair actually grows.

A fade is the most demanding cut we do, and the one that grows out fastest. Hair grows roughly a centimetre a month, which sounds slow until you remember that a skin fade starts at zero.

The two-week rule

For a tight skin fade, most of our clients rebook every two to three weeks. Past that, the blend softens and the outline loses its edge. If you prefer a lived-in look, a mid or low fade will happily stretch to four weeks.

Between appointments

Leave the clippers alone. A neckline tidy at home is fine; anything above the ears tends to undo the blend. Book a quick neck-and-outline appointment instead.

Plan ahead

Weddings, interviews, photographs: book the cut four or five days before, not the morning of. A fade looks its best once it has settled.
