Stropwell Grooming House

The art of looking

sharp.

Precision in every cut. Character in every detail. A modern grooming experience, crafted around you.

Four chairs, no rush

Since 2014

Hot towel with every cut

Clerkenwell EC1

01 — Philosophy

Not just a haircut.

A ritual.

Clipper-over-comb fade at the back of a client's head

The chair is the one place in the week where nobody needs anything from you. We take that seriously.

Every appointment starts with a conversation, not a clipper guard. We look at how your hair grows, how you wear it on a Tuesday and what you want it to say on a Saturday. Then we cut, slowly and properly.

Hot towel, straight-razor neckline and a style you can repeat at home. Every time.

02 — Signature services

Six ways to
leave sharper.

Every service includes a consultation, a hot towel and a finish you can recreate at home.

Steel tray of shears and combs

03 — The experience

The details

make the difference.

I

Hot towel, every time

Steam softens the hair and the skin before any blade goes near it.

II

A straight-razor finish

Necklines and outlines finished by hand, the way they should be.

III

Products worth using

Small-batch pomades, clays and oils, chosen for your hair, not our stock room.

04 — The craftsmen

Three specialists.
One standard.

Elias Ward's hands cutting with shears and comb

Founder & Master Barber

Elias Ward

Scissor work, classic tailoring

Trained in Mayfair, opened Stropwell in 2014. Elias cuts the way a tailor cuts cloth: measure twice, take less than you think.

Marcus Hale's hands cutting curly hair

Senior Barber

Marcus Hale

Hot towel shaves, beards

Marcus runs the shave chair. Twelve years with a straight razor and the steadiest hands in the studio.

Tomás Reyes's hands finishing a cut with shears

Barber

Tomás Reyes

Skin fades, texture

Tomás brings the precision of competition fades to everyday cuts. Ask him about texture; he will tell you everything.

The empty studio: barber chairs, an arched window and light across the floor

05 — The studio

A converted print works off St John Street.

North light, iron columns, Italian leather chairs and a coffee machine we take very seriously.

Tue – Fri 9:30 – 20:00
Saturday 9:00 – 18:00
Sunday 11:00 – 16:00

The first barber who has asked how I actually wear my hair. Best cut I have had in years.

Tomás fixed a fade three other shops had made a mess of. I will not go anywhere else now.
